Raymond Ryckman, a renowned medical entomologist with a PhD, passed away at the age of 99, leaving a remarkable legacy. He made significant contributions to Loma Linda University's standing in medical science through his groundbreaking research on plague transmission dynamics and Chagas disease.
Ryckman also received numerous honors and awards throughout his career, authored numerous publications, and compiled extensive bibliographies, significantly contributing to the field. His dedication to entomology extended to his vast collection of over 25,000 insects donated to the Bohart Museum of Entomology. Beyond his professional achievements, Ryckman was a dedicated family man who involved his wife and children in his fieldwork.
