Humanities Program Fund
Hello Friends,
Greetings to you. As you may know, the Loma Linda University Humanities Program serves the entire university community. And I’m happy that our School of Religion is tasked by University administration to operate this vital supplement to all our schools’ curricula.
Of course, religion is a humanities discipline, but our LLU Humanities Program is so much more—and it’s largely extra-curricular: theatrical plays, poetry readings, film festivals, music programs, panel discussions, and electives in literature, law, and film. LLU students gain more than mere knowledge; at our best we provide a spiritual-intellectual-cultural environment that nurtures and develops the whole person within the context of a Christian, Seventh-day Adventist health science university.—often referred to as the “silent curriculum.”
In order to continue producing these broad activities and unique experiences here at LLU, we need your support. The Humanities Fund now has just over $200,000, and we hope to shortly reach $1 Million. One of our religion professors who’s passionate about the arts and humanities co-directs the Humanities Program, and annually has $15,000 or 5% (whichever is more) for programing. Our hope is to increase this annual budget so we can elevate the impact of the Humanities Program across LLU and across our community.
I cordially invite you to consider a contribution to the LLU Humanities Program Fund!
